Damares says she will remain active in a conservative alliance despite leaving Brazil – 01/17/2023 – Panel

Former Minister of Human Rights and elected senator, Damares Alves (Republicanos-DF) says she will continue to act in the so-called Geneva Consensus, an alliance of conservative countries opposed to abortion, from which Brazil withdrew this Tuesday (17).
“Fortunately, there are civil society entities that are part of it,” she says. One of them is the Ives Gandra Institute.
Damares claims that he was not surprised by the Itamaraty’s decision to withdraw Brazil from the alliance of right-wing governments. In 2021, this had already happened to the US, after Joe Biden’s victory.
“No surprise, I already imagined that. At no time did President Lula announce that he would be a pro-life government”, he says.
