Manaus (AM) – The choreographer and cultural producer, Wilson Júnior, took on the role of art director of the June gang Brotinhos de Petrópolis, from the Petrópolis neighborhood, South Zone of Manaus, for the 2024 season. With this, he will have the mission of idealizing the presentation, from artistic creation, allegory to choreographic supervision.

Graduated in Dance from the State University of Amazonas (UEA) and master’s degree from the Federal University of Bahia (UFBA) with more than 20 years dedicated to culture with consolidated artistic works in Brazil and productions abroad, Wilson Júnior is director, choreographer and founder of Art Without Borders Cultural Institution.

Wilson was happy with the new job and highlighted the importance and responsibility of leading the artistic direction of the Quadrilha Brotinhos de Petrópolis, a June festival with a lot of tradition that in 2024 will celebrate 41 years of artistic activities in Amazonas.

“The art director has the task of transmitting this vision to the artists who, in turn, will bring the entire project to life. We work with the entire marketing, designer and production team. As it is a position of great responsibility and requires the management of a team, it is not a position for inexperienced people or people new to the sector. I’m sure it will be an incredible job,” he said.

Brotinhos choreographer Jessica Moça, teacher and producer at the Instituição Cultural Arte Sem Fronteiras, said she trusts Wilson Junior’s work for the 2024 season, for his creativity, focus and responsibility with artistic work.

“I have worked with Wilson for at least six years and I know his professionalism. I have no doubt that Junina Brotinhos from Petrópolis made a great signing and we will put on a great show. The public can look forward to an excellent presentation”, he reiterates.

It is worth mentioning that the Quadrilha Junina Brotinhos de Petrópolis was founded on June 7, 1983 by a group of friends and nephews of teacher Idemar Vale, with the aim of brightening up the June festivities in the Petrópolis neighborhood. The project started with children, but soon the community also became increasingly involved. In addition to June festivities and commemorative dates, the Folkloric Group develops a social project for the community, called the Reading Project, which encourages the habit of reading and interpreting through songs and interpretations. The Folklore Group has participated in the Amazonas Folklore Festival – FFA since 1986 and has been crowned champion in its Gold category several times.
