Amazonastur’s marketing director, Ana Cláudia Rego, emphasizes the importance of including Amazonas on the route of one of the largest cruise companies in the world and the positive impacts on the local economy and tourism.

“This ship is important for Amazonas because it is the eleventh ship of the season and the forecast, by the end, is to inject R$3.5 million into the economy. By bringing tourists here they spend on crafts, taking tourist packages, tours, going to restaurants and bars, so we have a positive impact on the economy directly and indirectly”,

pointed out the director.

American, Canadian and Australian cruisers are among the majority of visitors coming from MSC Poesia to the Amazonian capital. One of them is Spanish tourist Thereza Mangalêz, who excitedly explains her main expectations for getting to know the Amazon.

“We’re going to see the Meeting of the Waters, we’re going to take a tour of the jungle and we’re going to meet the tribes. We are very happy and we love Brazil”,

said the tourist.
