Covid: Tarcísio wants to forgive a fine, benefiting Bolsonaro – 08/08/2023 – Power

The Government of São Paulo is considering forgiving the fines imposed during the pandemic. The measure will apply to infractions of an educational and non-collective nature.

If the measure comes into force, one of the beneficiaries will be former president Jair Bolsonaro (PL), who has seven open violations with the state Health Secretariat.

In a note, the Tarcísio government stated that it is evaluating the possibility of submitting the project regarding amnesty to fines applied during the state of emergency in health.

In 2021, in the management of the then governor João Doria, the former president was charged for not wearing a face protection mask against Covid-19 during events in São Paulo, such as motorcyclists that he promoted throughout the state.

With fines accumulating in the state, Bolsonaro may have to pay a total of BRL 1 million for all infractions.

Since the beginning of the spread of the new coronavirus, in 2020, Bolsonaro has spoken and acted in confrontation with protective measures, in particular the policy of isolating the population. He used the words hysteria and fantasy to classify the public and press reaction to the pandemic.

Bolsonaro also distributed ineffective medicines against the disease, encouraged crowds, acted against the purchase of vaccines, spread false information about Covid-19 and carried out campaigns of disobedience to protective measures, such as the use of masks.
