Councilor supports security camera project in public bodies

Councilor Raiff Matos (DC) expressed his support for the project, authored by councilor Carpê Andrade (Republicans), which proposes the installation of security cameras in public bodies in Manaus.

For Raiff Matos, the initiative is crucial to increasing the population’s sense of security, aiming to protect families and workers in the city’s public spaces.

“This project is necessary to guarantee the safety of families and workers, acting directly to prevent certain types of violence against law-abiding citizens present in public spaces in the municipality of Manaus”,

Although the proposal was approved by the Manaus City Council (CMM), it was recently vetoed by the city hall on the grounds that the authorization interferes with the autonomy of powers, assuming that the legislature can authorize the executive. The prosecutor argues that imposing obligations on the city hall invades its duties and powers.

In the last plenary session, held on Monday (14), the veto was overturned, making the project a law to be promulgated by the CMM.
