The national president of the Liberal Party (PL), Valdemar Costa Neto, made official this Thursday (20) the expulsion of federal deputy Yury do Paredão from the party. The decision was communicated through a post on social networks after a meeting between the politicians at the party headquarters, in Brasília.

“I received deputy Yury do Paredão, from Ceará, at the headquarters of PL Nacional, to whom I reaffirmed that he will be expelled from the party for not sharing the ideals of our party”, said Costa Neto in the twitter.

After the meeting, Yury do Paredão commented on the expulsion on his social networks. He stated that he respects the decision and appreciates the opportunity given by the party in the 2022 elections.

“I continue as a federal deputy defending democracy, doing politics with dialogue, respect, without radicalism, with tolerance, and defending the actions of governments that bring improvements to the Brazilian people”, he concluded.

Since the beginning of his term, the congressman has been making nods to the Lula government. He was one of the 30 PL deputies who voted in favor of the fiscal framework in the Chamber. Yury was also in the group that, contrary to the Liberal Party order, supported the tax reform.
