Correction at Lava Jato targets BRL 300 million in deposits – 06/11/2023 – Panel

About R$ 300 million in judicial deposits made by Lava Jato determination are at the center of the extraordinary correction in the 13th Federal Court of Justice in Curitiba and the TRF-4 (Federal Regional Court of the 4th Region), responsible for the operation.

The national justice inspector, Luís Felipe Salomão, wants to analyze with a magnifying glass how the decisions involving them were taken, in addition to the origin and destination of the resources, and may ask for the breach of bank secrecy, if he sees the need.

The extraordinary inspection, brought forward by column Mônica Bergamo, was opened after judge Eduardo Appio was removed from his duties for an alleged threat he would have made to federal judge Marcelo Malucelli. The magistrate denies. Before being removed, he had been reviewing the decisions of former judge Sergio Moro, his predecessor.

Salomão also intends to pay special attention to the international cooperation agreements and the way in which the winning awards were carried out. The minister lands in Curitiba this week to follow the work closely.

In 2019, an agreement approved by the minister of the STF (Federal Supreme Court) Alexandre de Moraes had already disciplined the allocation of BRL 2.6 billion that would originally form part of a fund to be managed by the MPF (Federal Public Ministry). The resources were deposited in the single Treasury account, to be spent on health and education.
