Coritiba will consult STJD before reinstating Alef Manga

This Saturday, lawyer Levy Monteiro, who represents Manga specifically in the case of match-fixing, issued a note stating that the player cannot “participate in any activity related to professional football or training on the club’s premises” until the case is resolved. of the athlete is reviewed in Court, which should happen in April.

The attacker’s defense had asked for a penalty conversion so that he could return to the field early. At first, the request was accepted, but then the STJD canceled the decision.

Alef Manga was suspended for 360 days from football for receiving a yellow card in the game against América-MG, in the 2022 Brasileirão, in exchange for receiving R$45,000 from bettors. The punishment began on July 31, 2023.

Coritiba goes public to inform that the measures adopted yesterday (23) related to the athlete Alef Manga are based on current legislation and a sports legal opinion issued by a renowned specialized law firm.
It clarifies that the reactivation of the athlete’s employment contract is the exclusive prerogative of the Club, independent of the STJD. Informs that the Specific Regulations of the Paraná Championship do not contain any prohibition on the athlete’s registration, although he remains disqualified from acting in light of the current decision of the STJD.
The decision to reinstate the athlete to the activities of the professional football department is in accordance with the provisions of article 172 of the Brazilian Code of Sports Justice.
However, to resolve any divergent views regarding this, the player’s reinstatement to the activities of the professional football department will be preceded by a request for clarification before the STJD, which will be filed by the Club this coming Monday (26). Finally, it ratifies that all actions adopted by the Club in relation to this matter fully respect current legislation and the decision of the STJD in all its terms.
