STJD imposes punishment after confusion among fans
The Superior Court of Sports Justice for Football (STJD) decided, this Wednesday (16), to punish Coritiba and Cruzeiro with matches behind closed doors when they are home teams for the next 30 days because of a fight involving fans of the two teams in a disputed match. last Saturday (11) at the Durival Britto stadium. Furthermore, teams will not be entitled to ticket charges when they are visitors.
This way, Raposa and Coxa will no longer play games in the current edition of Series A of the Brazilian Championship with the support of their fans.
The decision was taken after the president of the STJD, José Perdiz de Jesus, partially granted the request made by the Prosecutor’s Office.
Last Saturday, Coritiba defeated Cruzeiro 1-0. However, the most striking fact of the confrontation was the widespread confusion in the final minutes. After striker Robson scored Coxa’s goal, fans of both teams invaded the pitch and started a fight, interrupting the game, which was only resumed after a stoppage of around 30 minutes.
