Corinthians beats Cruzeiro and wins the São Paulo Junior Football Cup title

Sao Paulo-SP) – Corinthians is the owner of the São Paulo Junior Football Cup for the 11th time. On the afternoon of this Thursday (25), a holiday celebrating the 470th anniversary of the city of São Paulo, Timãozinho entered the field to compete in the final of the Copinha 2024. Facing Cruzeiro, Filhos do Terrão had a very difficult, but with a great goal from Kayke, Alvinegro beat the Minas Gerais team 1-0 and became champions of the competition.

It was a great campaign for Timãozinho in the 2024 competition, as they beat opponents like Guarani, CRB, Atlético-GO, Novorizontino and Cruzeiro to win yet another title. Corinthians is the biggest winner of the Copinha: in addition to 2024, Alvinegro was champion in 1969, 1970, 1995, 1999, 2004, 2005, 2009, 2012, 2015 and 2017. This was the first time that Corinthians lifted the trophy. Cup at Neo Química Arena.

Lineup

Coach Danilo Andrade selected Timãozinho with Felipe Longo; Léo Mana, João Pedro Tchoca, Renato, Vitor Meer; Ryan, Breno Bidon, Pedrinho; Kayke, Higor and Arthur Sousa. The following entered the game: Thomas Lisboa, GH, Thomas Agustin and Jhonatan. The following were still available on the bench: Cadu, Caipira, Bahia, Beto and Léo Agostinho.

First time

Timãozinho started the game by attacking the Cruzeiro team. At five minutes, Pedrinho tested goalkeeper Otávio for the first time, who made the save. Fiel Torcida pushed Filhos do Terrão, with the Neo Química Arena full. At nine, Cruzeiro responded. In a quick counterattack, Xavier shot, Felipe saved and, on the rebound, Arthur kicked out. Timãozinho arrived once again at 12: in a good triangulation, Léo Mana arrived to finish and shot out.

In the 20th minute, Vitinho, from Cruzeiro, took a free kick that was dangerous, but went through the baseline. The Minas Gerais team had another opportunity with a dangerous foul, in the 33rd minute. Gui Meira also kicked out. Timãozinho had another opportunity with Pedrinho, in the 42nd minute, but did not pose as much danger to goalkeeper Otávio’s goal.

Second time

The second stage started more nervous than the first. Both teams missing a lot of passes. At nine minutes, Danilo made the first change at Timãozinho. Higor left and Thomaz Lisboa entered.

Cruzeiro had a dangerous move in the 10th minute. Gui Meira kicked and the ball deflected into the black and white defense. At 20 minutes, the Minas Gerais team had another opportunity. With a shot from Jhosefer, the ball put Felipe Longo in danger. Two minutes later, Timão’s goalkeeper was called in, palming a ball from Vitinho.

Danilo changed the team once again, in the 25th minute: Pedrinho left and GH came on. In the 31st minute, Timãozinho arrived with a shot from Vitor Meer. The ball deflected and almost deceived goalkeeper Otávio, who managed to send it to a corner.

In the 39th minute, a goal from Corinthians! GH made the pass to Kayke, who cut to the middle and shot with his right leg, from outside the area, to score a great goal. After the goal, Timãozinho changed: Arthur Sousa and Ryan left and Thomas Agustin and Jhonatan entered.
