The Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) published this Thursday (04) the basic table for the 2024 Green Cup. The competition starts at the end of February, with the grand final scheduled for May 8.
The Amapá team that will be in the competition is Trem Desportivo Clube and will play in the first phase against Humaitá (AC), on the 21st or 28th of February. If Locomotiva beats the club from Acre, they will face Remo (PA) on March 6th or 13th. The match locations have not yet been defined.
The 2024 Green Cup will be divided into five phases. In the first, 16 teams will be divided into eight groups of two, playing in a single match. In the second phase, the classified teams will once again play unique matches, with the eight teams already guaranteed: Remo (PA), Amazonas (AM), Paysandu (PA), Manaus (AM), Cuiabá (MT), Brasiliense (DF) , Goiás (GO) and Vila Nova (GO). From the quarterfinals onwards, the clashes will be round-trip matches.
Since 2014, the Copa Verde has been part of the CBF’s annual competition calendar, standing out for its social impact and environmental preservation initiatives outside the playing fields. Paysandu is the most successful team, with three titles.
