The quarterfinals of the Copa do Brasil feature the Choque-Rei, as the derby between São Paulo and Palmeiras is known. Whoever advances in Choque-Rei may have another classic ahead of them, since the switch put the winner of São Paulo and Palmeiras in the path of Corinthians or América-MG. In 2020, the teams dueled for the round of 16, with Coelho taking the spot on penalties. Unlike that occasion, Timão will be the host in the return game.
On the other side of the key, Flamengo and Athletico-PR will be opponents for the fifth consecutive year. Each team qualified twice, with Hurricane advancing in 2019 (quarterfinals) and 2021 (semifinals) and Rubro-Negro Carioca passing in 2020 (eighth) and 2022 (quarterly). This time, the people from Paraná will play the second duel at home, at Arena da Baixada.
The classified in the red-black confrontation will have as a rival who passes from Grêmio and Bahia. The tricolors meet again for the Copa do Brasil four years after deciding a place in a semifinal of the tournament. In 2019, the Gauchos advanced by drawing at home and winning in Salvador. In 2023, the return will be at the Gremista Arena, in Porto Alegre.
The champion of the Copa do Brasil, if he started his path in the first phase (Grêmio, Bahia and América-MG), will have collected more than R$ 90 million in prizes. If the winning team entered the third phase directly, because it was classified in the Libertadores (Palmeiras, Corinthians, Flamengo and Athletico-PR) or because of the campaign in the last Brazilian Championship (São Paulo), the accumulated amount will reach almost R$ 89 million.
