Congress of the Central Única dos Trabalhadores elects director of Amazonas

The new director sees the possibility of creating a direct channel for permanent dialogue with the government

Manaus (AM) – The National Confederation of Workers in the Construction and Wood Industries affiliated to the Central Única dos Trabalhadores (CONTICOM-CUT) promoted, this week, the 10th Congress, with the theme “Rebuild, Advance and Build”, with a focus on the reorganization of the branch in view of the country’s new political prospects. The meeting was held in a hybrid form (face-to-face and online), at the headquarters of the Central Única dos Trabalhadores (CUT), in São Paulo.

On that occasion, he was elected the new board of directors of the confederation for the next quadrennium. Amazonas is being represented in the new board by the financial director of the Union of Civil Construction Workers (Sitracomec), Carles Waldemar, who took over the Entity’s Executive Board of Social Affairs.

Waldemar pointed out that the main challenge of the congress was to mobilize and reorganize the trade unions, due to the new political situation in the country and in view of the expectations of a union reform, based on the demands of the movement itself.

“We need to reorganize and structure ourselves for the impacts of the resumption of the PAC and the expansion of the Minha Casa, Minha Vida Program, situations that will demand a lot of effort from us in the organization and representation of workers”,

explained the new director of CONTICOM.

Carles Waldemar also pointed out that one of the most important debates at the moment is the struggle to rebuild the State’s inspection structure, which is currently greatly reduced due to the policy of dismantling the Ministry of Labor and Employment promoted by the previous government.

Dialogue

The new director stated that the Lula government is talking to the union movement, but he still hopes that the demands of the working class will receive more protagonism.

Waldemar sees the possibility of creating a direct channel of permanent dialogue with the government, which should be used by the unions in the search for a greater role in the discussion on the legal reordering of labor relations and compliance by companies with social clauses.
