Congonhas neighbors complain to Márcio França about noise – 03/03/2023 – Panel SA

The Minister of Ports and Airports, Márcio França, met this Friday (3) with associations from the neighborhoods around Congonhas, which in August last year were trying to suspend the airport concession.

With no success in the efforts in court to block the auction, won by the Spanish Aena, neighborhood representatives have now taken their complaints to the new minister against noise pollution, which is expected to worsen after the increase in the number of flights from the terminal.

According to Guilherme Canton, president of ANMA, one of the associations that brings together neighbors from Moema, the intention now is not to try to embargo the bidding.

“I don’t think the issue is to cancel, but to discuss the parameters and the counterparts to mitigate. The wind changed, so much so that the minister was willing to attend to us”, says Canton.

One of the ideas is the possibility of installing noise windows in schools, hospitals and homes most affected by aircraft noise, in addition to a mitigation fund for environmental damage.

The process for the concession goes through an impasse at Anac (National Civil Aviation Agency) on the use of precatories to settle part of the grant.
