The Inspection and Control Commission of the Chamber of Deputies rejected, this Wednesday (12), an invitation for lawyer Rodrigo Tacla Duran to present to the collegiate the accusations that he was the target of extortion in Operation Lava Jato in Paraná. The request, authored by Deputy Jorge Solla (PT-BA), was rejected by eleven votes to eight.

At the hearing, federal deputy and former Lava Jato prosecutor, Deltan Dallagnol (Podemos-PR), who is one of those accused by Duran, denied any accusation. “Mr. Tacla Duran is not an Odebrecht lawyer. He was a professional money launderer for Odebrecht, a confessed criminal and tried to deceive the authorities more than 20 times. There is no evidence that confirms what he said,” he said in a statement.

Dallagnol also mentioned that “Lava Jato made more than 200 plea bargain agreements, none with any indication of irregularity. If someone committed any irregularity, it would be criminal and highly stupid”.

The deputy opposed the summoning of the lawyer, and said that “what is being sought is a great foam to attack not only the operation, but to try to cover up the abuses that the current government has practiced and omitted”.
