The National Council of Justice (CNJ) decided to precautionarily remove judge Evandro Reimão dos Reis, from the Federal Regional Court of the 6th Region (TRF-6), based in Belo Horizonte. The removal is due after the initiation of a disciplinary process that determines “excessive delay” in the analysis of cases directed to the judge.

The CNJ board unanimously approved the initiation of the process, with a favorable vote from the president of the Federal Supreme Court (STF), Luiz Roberto Barroso.

According to an investigation by the Folha de S. Paulo, the average time between the beginning of the process and the first trial is 598 days in Reimão’s office. And based on the extraordinary review, carried out last August, more than 663 judgments awaiting Reimão’s signature were identified, referring to trials that took place in the previous seven months.

The judge denied the Sheet that he acted irregularly and claims to be a victim of persecution in the court, which was set up in 2022. He also says that the secrecy of the correction was not observed and that the prominence in the press caused him severe embarrassment. He is the target of 29 procedures at the CNJ, 20 of which have already been archived.

In one of the proceedings at the council, minister Luis Felipe Salomão pointed out that Reimão’s relationship with his peers “has a high potential to constitute non-compliance with the duties of courtesy, prudence, diligence, professional and personal integrity, dignity, honor and decorum”.
