Founded in 1993, the Central de Movimentos Populares (CMP) will hold its 7th National Congress in Salvador (BA), between October 26th and 29th, the month in which it celebrates its 30th anniversary.
The CMP was one of the groups that founded the Frente Brasil Popular, in 2015, alongside left-wing parties, unions and civil society associations, and was part of the mobilizations against the Jair Bolsonaro (PL) government in 2021 and 2022. According to calculations by the CMP itself, today has around 4,000 affiliated entities and is present in 21 states.
The congress, which will have the theme “30 years of struggles and resistance” and the motto “against fascism, in defense of democracy, rights and life”, should be attended by ministers of Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT ) and the governor of Bahia, Jerônimo Rodrigues (PT).
