CMM approves proposal that grants the City of Manaus Gold Medal to Wilson Lima

Manaus (AM) — The Manaus City Council (CMM) approved, this Monday (20), the Draft Legislative Decree n⁰. 003/2023, which awards the City of Manaus Gold Medal to the governor of Amazonas Wilson Lima (União Brasil).

Authored by councilor Peixoto (Pros), the approved PDL provides the head of the State Executive, Wilson Lima, with the most important honor of the Legislative House. The City of Manaus Gold Medal is awarded to those who have carried out relevant activities for society in the capital of Amazonas for more than ten years.

According to councilor Peixoto, the project emerged as a way to honor the governor of Amazonas for the services provided to the population of Manaus. “This is a project from last year, but it comes at an excellent time, after the Governor’s re-election, which is unequivocal proof that the people gave to him with this reappointment to the mandate”, recalled Peixoto.

Still according to the parliamentarian, Governor Wilson Lima has already carried out other jobs for the population before holding office, such as in the area of ​​communication.

“Wilson’s history with Amazonas and Manaus dates back to 2006. He sought in the state capital a place to pursue his professional career and even before entering politics, he stood out as a journalist, demanding that public authorities care for the city ​​and I believe that in his management, he seeks to repay the affection with what was received and welcomed”,

says the alderman.

The decree was also signed and promulgated by the president of CMM Caio André (PSC) and signed by the councilors: Lissandro Breval, Everton Assis, Diego Afonso, Dr. Daniel Vasconcelos, Allan Campelo, Eduardo Alfaia, Jander Lobato, Marcelo Serafim, Ivo Neto, Dione Carvalho, Rosivaldo Bual, Raulzinho, Marcel Alexandre, Elan Alencar, Fransua, Eduardo Assis, Capitão Carpê Andrade, Yomara Lins, Roberto Sabino, Taysa Lippy, Raiff Matos, Márcio Tavares, Professor Samuel and João Carlos.

To the In time, councilor Elan Alencar (Pros) highlighted that the tribute is due to Wilson Lima’s actions as governor, such as the partnership between him and the mayor of Manaus, David Almeida (Avante), which allowed the paving of several regions of the capital , and the reform of fairs in Manaus.

It is always good that public men recognize the management and work of the authorities, and that is what we are doing here in the Chamber, recognizing the work of Governor Wilson Lima and giving him this honor”,

Biography

Born in the municipality of Santarém, in Pará, Wilson Lima is the son of Maria Miranda Lima and José Lins Lima. At age 15 he started working as an English teacher and as a radio announcer and television presenter. Two years later, he was a technical advisor to the Itaituba Tourism Secretariat, in Pará.

Still in Santarém, he began his career as a reporter. In 2006, he moved to Manaus, and continued to work in the area of ​​communication as a presenter.

In 2011, Wilson Lima obtained a degree in Journalism, hosting the program Alô Amazonas from 2010 to 2018.

Lima’s political career began in 2012, when he joined the Green Party (PV). After four years, he joined the Party of the Republic and then the Brazilian Democratic Movement (MDB).

In 2018, he launched a candidacy for the Government of Amazonas by the Social Christian Party (PSC), being elected the 49th governor of the State, defeating Amazonino Mendes.

Four years later, in 2022, Wilson Lima ran for re-election for the Government of Amazonas by União Brasil (UB), in the Aqui é Trabalho coalition.

In the first round of elections, Lima was ahead, with 42.82% of the votes, just behind, in second place, Eduardo Braga (MDB) obtained 20.99% and Amazonino Mendes 18.56%.

In the second round, which took place on October 30, Wilson Lima won the dispute for the Government of Amazonas by receiving 1,039,192 votes (56.65%). Eduardo Braga came in last, with 43.35%.
