The governor Clécio Luís reassured the population of Amapá, this Wednesday morning, the 6th, informing that the 44.41% adjustment in Amapá’s electricity tariff, scheduled for the 13th, will not happen.

The state manager spoke based on a conversation he had with the minister of mines and energy, Alexandre Silveira, in Dubai, where he is participating in COP 28.

In the conversation, said Clécio, Alexandre Silveira stated that there is no reason for concern because the issue of energy tariffs has already been resolved, through a political decision, by the federal government, regardless of legal proceedings.

The political decision, informed the governor, will be to issue a provisional measure, on an emergency basis, to stop the adjustment immediately, and then, later, adjust the current model of tariff regulation for the sector in the country.

Clécio Luís showed that in the current model, Brazilians, especially those from Amapá, pay debts from the national energy system incurred due to problems at the Cantareira Reservoir, in São Paulo, and during the time of Covid 19.

The governor recalled that the federal government’s political decision originated in the meeting he had with President Lula da Silva, in November, in Brasília, together with senator Davi Alcolumbre and the minister of national integration, Waldez Góes.

Clécio also recalled that upon hearing the reasons why Amapá could not accept the increase determined by Aneel, the president immediately called minister Alexandre Silveira, determining measures to block the tariff adjustment, using political bias.

“I want to calm the people of Amapá. Regardless of the legal actions, the adjustment will not happen. We took the political line to act, with a decision from President Lula himself. Now, I can’t say there won’t be an increase in energy bills; Yes, there will be, but not in the percentage now predicted, which is unacceptable”concluded Clécio Luís.
