Clécio Luís declares a state of emergency across the state due to fire rates – News of Brazil

This Saturday, 21st, the governor Clécio Luís declared an emergency situation throughout the state due to the increase in the number of fires recorded during the dry period, when the rains decrease. The measure aims to make administrative decision-making to combat fire outbreaks more agile and reduce bureaucracy.

Clécio Luís pointed out that the seriousness of the situation caused the Ministry of Integration and Regional Development to promptly approve the decree. Now, Minister Waldez Góes is seeking coordination with other ministries to expand Federal Government aid to the state.

“We are at a very critical moment. Just to give you an idea, in 2022 Amapá recorded around 4 thousand fires, but this year there are already more than 10 thousand and we are still in the month of October”highlighted the governor.

Humanitarian help

The signing of the decree took place in Tartarugalzinho, one of the municipalities most affected by fires. The State Government guaranteed humanitarian action to serve the residents and provided the City Hall with basic food baskets, hygiene kits, bottles of mineral water, water tanks, fuel, five thousand units of hypochlorite, as well as water tankers to supply families. and irrigation of plantations.

All material received will later be distributed by the municipality, after screening families that are being impacted by fire outbreaks.

According to Tartarugalzinho City Hall, the city has been suffering from fires since July, but from October onwards the situation became unsustainable and the municipality had to request support from the State Government to control the fires.

“The City Hall did everything to alleviate the problems caused by the drought, including serving the population with water trucks for more than 30 days, but now, the municipality has reached its limit and, analyzing the consequences caused by the fires, we decided to ask for help from the Government of Amapá, which promptly responded to our request and help has already started to arrive”highlighted the mayor of Tartarugalzinho, Bruno Mineiro.

The senator Randolfe Rodrigues also participated in the signing ceremony of the emergency decree in Amapá and reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to helping all states affected by the drought.

“The Government has been concerned about the drought in the Amazon since the situation began to worsen in the states of Amazonas and Rondônia. With the fires also causing great damage in Amapá and the signing of the emergency decree, we will report to the Federal Government, which will certainly provide all the help it can to the lakes region and the entire state”pointed out the parliamentarian.
