The measure aims to ensure the continuity of the provision of services in the accredited network

Manaus (AM) — The Municipality of Manaus should announce, still this month, the correction in the percentage of discount of the insured servants of the Service of Assistance to the Health of the Public Servants of the Municipality of Manaus (Manausmed). The measure aims to ensure the continuity of the provision of services in the accredited network. This Monday morning (10), the holder of the Municipal Administration, Planning and Management Secretariat (Semad), Ebenezer Bezerra, and the undersecretary of Manausmed, César Marques, were at the Manaus City Council (CMM), to explain to the councilors the measure needed.

During the plenary session, the holder of Semad highlighted the importance of Manausmed, noting that the service, which also serves policyholders of the Legislative Power, has been facing difficulties due to the lack of updates in the form of maintenance, which are the contributions of the servers.

“The math is simple: how much is spent and how much is collected. Therefore, the need to review the contribution system so that the service can offer an even better service”

justified Ebenezer.

The secretary also pointed out that all studies are being carried out so that the correction in the discount percentage is as small as possible.

Undersecretary César Marques presented a “X-ray” from Manausmed. According to him, at the beginning of management, in January 2021, the service had no hospital, no clinics, doctors and suffered payment delays of more than a year and had no credibility on the part of health units, which refused to attend the servers. There was no service in the oncology area and more than a thousand people were waiting for general surgeries, all of this at the beginning of a serious pandemic, which was Covid-19.

He recalled that from a restructuring work, guided by Mayor David Almeida, it was possible to take to Manausmed three large hospitals, two oncology clinics, an orthopedic center for surgeries and treatments, and more than 60 medical specialties.

“There are civil servants who pay around R$50 a month and undergo oncological treatment, which can reach R$138,000/month, lasting an average of 6 to 8 months. The service also authorizes heart surgeries that cost around R$ 500,000. In the month of June, Manausmed had more than 3,500 urgent and emergency consultations, performed 427 surgeries of different specialties, urgent, therefore, they cannot take long to be performed, in addition to over 260 elective surgeries. Manausmed currently has 280 people undergoing cancer treatment”

scored César Marques.

In the last seven years, according to the undersecretary, conventional health plans had readjustments of 74%, while Manausmed did not have any type of correction in the percentage paid by the server. The service has around 40,000 policyholders, of whom 14,000 are dependents, for which no amount is charged.

César Marques stated that Manausmed could collapse if there is no reform in the financial sector.

“Manausmed has been saving lives on a daily basis, but the situation is alarming. An urgent reform is needed in the collection of the service so that it is possible to expand the attendances. Just to give you an idea, last Saturday, July 8th, we had 56 people admitted to a hospital, 11 of them in serious condition, in the Intensive Care Unit”

informed.
