Cineteatro Guarany hosts 18th edition of international festival in Manaus

Manaus (AM) – The Italian Film Festival presents its 18th edition starting this Tuesday (07th), extending until November 11th. During the event, one session per day of Italian classics will be shown, which will take place free of charge at 6:30 pm at Cineteatro Guarany, Avenida Sete de Setembro, attached to Palácio Rio Negro, Center of Manaus.

Opening the festival, the film “Il Primo Giorno Della Mia Vita” (The First Day of My Life), by Paolo Genovese, which tells the story of a mysterious man who introduces himself to four people who have hit rock bottom and want to end with their lives to try to change their minds.

On Wednesday (08) it is the turn of “Travolti Da An Insolito Destino Nell’azzurro Mare D’agosto” (For an Unusual Destination), directed by Lina Wertmüller, featuring the rich capitalist Raffaella Pavone Lanzetti who goes on a cruise in the Mediterranean and the communist Sicilian, Gennarino Carunchio, who works on the vessel. When the yacht’s engine breaks down, the characters are forced to work as a team to survive.

On Thursday (09), the Thriller “L’uomo Sulla Strada” (The Man on the Road) by Gianluca Mangiasciutti has as its protagonist Irene, a young woman haunted by the death of her father at the hands of a fugitive driver. Determined to find justice, she becomes involved with Michele, the owner of the factory where she works, without knowing that he is responsible for the tragic accident.

On Friday (10), the festival presents Alberto Lattuada’s film, “Venga A Prendere Il Caffè Da Noi” (Come Have Coffee With Us), where Emerenziano, a middle-aged tax inspector, is in search of a rich wife. He travels to Italy, where he meets three sisters who, although rich, are not at all young or beautiful, and decides to marry one of them.

Concluding the program, on Saturday (11) it is the turn of the feature film “Billy”, by Emilia Mazzacurati. Billy was a young prodigy who, at the age of nine, created and hosted a highly successful music podcast. Now, at 19, he faces an identity crisis and uncertainty about his future. Everything changes when Billy has an unexpected encounter with his childhood idol, a musician who has been missing for years.

The Italian Film Festival was created by the Italian Chamber of Commerce of São Paulo (ITALCAM), has the collaboration and sponsorship of the Italian Embassy and in Manaus is supported by the Government of the State of Amazonas through the State Secretariat for Culture and Creative Economy and the Cultural Development Agency.
