Lilac January, Trans Visibility Month, hits the screens of Cinemateca Amorim (Rua dos Andradas, 736) with three productions from Rio Grande do Sul. Promoted by Sedac-RS, the exhibition will be held between the 24th and 26th of January, at Sala Eduardo Hirtz. Admission is free and all sessions will have the presence of the technical team and guests, for a chat about each work.

The three titles presented at the show are short films that bring the trans issue into their themes. On the first day of the event, the exhibited work will be may power (19 min), directed by Victor di Marco and Márcio Picoli. The film tells the story of Lucas, Luiza and Bia, who in one night remember the pains and delights of being who they are. The short film won the Best Actress and Best Actor awards at the 2022 Gramado Film Festival in Rio Grande do Sul, and will be screened on Tuesday (24th) at 7:30 pm.

On Wednesday (25), at the same time, it’s time for Garden of Hours (20 min), directed by Matheus Piccoli. The film portrays the melancholy of Teresa, who, during a visit to the house where she grew up, faces the distance between who she is and everything that her senile father still remembers. Finally, on Thursday (26), again at 7:30 pm, the work presented is The baby (20 min), videoperformance by Fayola Ferreira, which unravels processes of identity construction, healing and self-love, through the archetype of the orixá Oxum.

The Trans Visibility Cycle is part of the Festival Cinemateca Paulo Amorim, sponsored by Banrisul, Gerdau, Vero, Icatu Seguros and Rio Grande Seguros, through the Federal Law of Incentive to Culture. Cinemateca Paulo Amorim – Espaço Banrisul de Cinema is an institution of the State Secretariat for Culture.
