Cid’s cell phone had a document with a script for a coup – 06/15/2023 – Power

The cell phone of Jair Bolsonaro’s (PL) former assistant, Lieutenant Colonel Mauro Cid, had a document with a kind of coup plan to reverse Lula’s (PT) election last year.

Messages were also identified in which an Armed Forces officer asks Cid to convince Bolsonaro to order a military intervention – which would configure a coup d’état.
The information is from a report by Veja magazine published this Thursday (15).

According to the publication, the document on Cid’s cell phone —who is arrested by order of STF (Federal Supreme Court) Minister Alexandre de Moraes— is entitled “Armed Forces as a moderating power”.

In this way, the plan makes reference to the thesis used by Bolsonarists that military personnel could be summoned by the President of the Republic to intervene in a case of conflict between the Powers.

The text on Cid’s device states that there would have been “abusive action by the Judiciary” and the “largest Brazilian media conglomerates” to influence voters in the 2022 election.

The magazine also says that, according to the script outlined in the document, Bolsonaro would forward a report of alleged illegalities identified in the elections to command the Armed Forces. They would then appoint an intervenor, who would have powers to suspend decisions considered unconstitutional and preemptively remove ministers from the STF and TSE (Superior Electoral Court).

This intervenor would also be responsible for investigating the conduct of Supreme Court ministers and setting a date for holding new elections —which would be conducted by substitute TSE ministers.

The script revealed by the magazine is not the only coup-like document linked to Bolsonaro’s assistants.
In January, the PF found at the residence of Anderson Torres, Bolsonaro’s former Minister of Justice, a coup-acting draft of a decree for the establishment of a state of defense at the TSE headquarters, as revealed by the Sheet.

The objective, according to the text, was to reverse the result of the election, in which Lula beat Bolsonaro.
According to Veja magazine, on Cid’s cell phone there are also messages in which Army officers are looking for an assistant to defend unconstitutional measures.

Colonel Jean Lawand Junior sent messages to Cid between November and December in which he claims that Bolsonaro needed to “give the order” for action by the Armed Forces. In another, he asks Cid: “Convince 01 to save this country!”

Lewand is supervisor of the Army Projects Office’s Astros Strategic Program. He is assigned to the General Staff of the Army.

According to the report, Cid does not reject the colonel’s coup suggestions, but says that Bolsonaro did not give the intervention order because he did not trust the Army High Command.

In another message, Colonel Lewand Junior forwards a message from a friend who claims to have met with General Edson Skora Edson Skora Rosty.

Deputy Commander of Land Operations of the Army, this soldier would have assured the interlocutor that the Land Force would comply with an eventual intervention order if it received one. Still according to this report, the general would have considered that the Army would do nothing without an order from Bolsonaro because the movement would be seen as a coup.

To Veja, Lewand claimed to be a friend of Cid, with whom he chatted pleasantly. He also said he does not remember any coup-like dialogue with Bolsonaro’s former assistant.
