The Minister of the STF (Federal Supreme Court) Luís Roberto Barroso chose a concert by the singer, composer and writer Chico Buarque as the destination of his first social outing after the death of his wife, Tereza Cristina Van Brussel Barroso, and the three abdominal surgeries that performed recently.
His children, Luna and Bernardo van Brussel Barroso, accompanied him during the presentation at Tokio Marine Hall, in São Paulo, on the last 24th.
“Chico Buarque is the best version of Brazil. Poetry, beauty, empathy and solidarity. One of the greatest of all times”, says the minister.
Chico Buarque has been touring the country since September last year with the “Qual Tal Um Samba?” tour. The artist still has, in the coming weeks, scheduled stops in Salvador and in the cities of Lisbon and Porto, in Portugal, where he will receive the Camões Prize.
The delivery of the honor will take place four years after the singer was awarded with the highest distinction in the Portuguese language. In 2019, then-president Jair Bolsonaro (PL) refused to sign the document certifying the award.
The then president stated that the signature was not among his priorities and that he would do it on “December 31, 2026”, assuming that he would be re-elected in the 2022 election.
The award ceremony for Chico will take place in the Portuguese capital on April 25th. The date coincides with the anniversary of the Carnation Revolution.
