Chamber subcommittee comes to Amapá to inspect how energy is measured – News of Brazil
[ad_1]
The subcommittee of the Chamber of Deputies that monitors the energy crisis in Amapá, (Subcea), approved, this Thursday (9), a technical visit to the Institute of Weights and Measures (Ipem-Ap) and Arsap (Services Regulatory Agency Public Delegates of the State of Amapá). The initiative came from a request from deputy Dorinaldo Malafaia, who also chairs the subcommittee.
Ipem is the body responsible for monitoring energy meters, the device that is placed in customers’ homes. Arsap, in turn, is responsible for monitoring public concessions, as is the case with Cea Equatorial.
Currently, Cea Equatorial has been replacing energy meters in Amapá residents’ homes and businesses.
“Dozens, hundreds and even thousands of people have complained that the price of the tariff rose exorbitantly after changing their meter. Our technical visit to Ipem and Arsap, accompanied by technicians from Aneel in Brasília and also from the Federal Audit Court, is to check how Ipem checks the meters and how Arsap inspects the concession. It will be an official technical visit from the Chamber of Deputies”, highlighted Malafaia.
Arsap and inspection
The deputy recalled and cited the example of Agergs (State Agency for the Regulation of Delegated Public Services of Rio Grande do Sul) which, this past week, fined R$ 24 million to the energy concessionaire in the state of Rio Grande do Sul for low quality in the services provided. Just like in Amapá, in Rio Grande do Sul, Equatorial is the company that provides the electricity distribution service.
In Amapá, Arsap – the regulatory agency for delegated services – is very little known to the population and the deputy’s visit to the entity has the function of verifying how the agency has carried out the inspection for which it is responsible.
“In addition to legal actions, political demands, the fight to stop the 44% increase, checking how the inspection process is going is fundamental. Our objective is that, at the end of the day, the population can pay a fair price and that the service has quality. We will continue fighting on all fronts to achieve this”, concluded Malafaia.
