Deputy Dorinaldo Malafaia (PDT-AP) said this Saturday morning, 24, on the program ‘Togas and Becas’ (Diário FM 90.9), who is inclined to vote against the temporary release of prisoners, in force according to the Penal Execution Law of 1984, which establishes the right of those sentenced to a semi-open regime to leave penitentiaries up to five times a year, normally during commemorative dates.
Dorinaldo participated in the radio program, after a presentation on the subject by lawyer Maurício Pereira, who is in favor of exits commonly called exits, among other arguments, for guaranteeing a fundamental right of the convicts, adding that if the National Congress stop the measure, the Brazilian Bar Association will fight against it, through a Direct Action of Unconstitutionality.
Exits have already been suspended by the Senate of the Republic, allowing them only for study and for the time necessary for this activity. Now, the Federal Chamber analyzes the changes made by the senators. At the Togas and Gowns, Dorinaldo revealed that for now the vast majority of parliamentarians are positioning themselves in disfavor of the benefit, as it is creating a serious social problem with inmates using the measure to commit crimes and even promote revenge. “We are studying this topic a lot. I confess that I haven’t decided yet, personally, but I’m inclined to vote against the exits”, declared the parliamentarian.
