The Social Security, Social Assistance, Childhood, Adolescence and Family Committee of the Chamber of Deputies approved Bill 4302/16, which intends to prohibit the registration of polyaffective unions, that is, a relationship with more than two people. The vote had a score of 9 votes in favor and 3 against.

The text was authored by federal deputy Vinicius Carvalho (Republicanos-SP) and received a favorable opinion from the rapporteur, deputy Filipe Martins (PL-TO). The proposal now goes to the Constitution and Justice Commission (CCJ) for analysis.

After being postponed several times, at the request of the left, the vote this Thursday (21) was marked by disagreements and disagreements with federal deputy Érika Kokay (PT-DF), but right-wing parliamentarians celebrated the approval of the proposal.

According to parliamentarians, the project avoids a “mess in the legal system”, given records in registry offices that try to favor polyamory or threesomes, as this type of union has also been called.

In 2018, the National Council of Justice (CNJ) ordered the suspension of all registrations of polyamorous unions and prohibited registry offices from drawing up public deeds to register this type of union.
