The National Integration and Regional Development Committee of the Chamber of Deputies approved a bill that expands the obligations of states, the Federal District (DF) and municipalities in Civil Defense. The rapporteur of the proposal is the deputy Josenildo (PDT-AP).
The approved text establishes that states and the Federal District must maintain teams to offer support to municipalities in implementing risk and disaster governance processes.
Municipalities with more than 50 thousand inhabitants must also have a permanent team to analyze risk areas, identify threats and develop actions to prevent, mitigate and respond to disasters.

According to the text, the so-called “jeep drivers” will be included in the list of civil defense agents. Private non-profit entities that use off-road vehicles for sporting purposes may assist in search, rescue and rescue.
The committee approved a substitute prepared by the rapporteur, deputy Josenildo, for Bill 1219/22, by deputy Juninho do Pneu (União-RJ), and three annexes. The text changes the National Civil Protection and Defense Policy.
“Brazil is subject to a variety of adverse phenomena, such as floods, droughts, landslides, forest fires and other disasters,” said Josenildo. “Civil Defense is essential to protect lives and reduce losses”. The project is being processed conclusively and will still be analyzed by the Constitution, Justice and Citizenship Commission.
