Ceará announced, this Monday (1st), the signing of Paraguayan midfielder Jorge Recalde, 31 years old. He terminated his contract with Newell’s Old Boys, from Argentina, and signed with Vozão until the end of 2025.
According to the Paraguayan press, Vozão will assume a debt that Newell’s owed to the athlete – therefore, the termination was made without direct negotiation between the clubs.
Recalde is the third midfielder arriving in Ceará for next season. Argentine Lucas Mugni, ex-Bahia, and Lourenço, ex-Vila Nova, have already been announced. The club lost Jean Carlos, traded to Juventude, and Chay, who returned to Botafogo.
The player began his career at Libertad, in Paraguay, a club he played for professionally for eight years. Afterwards, he had a short spell at Olímpia-PAR, until arriving at Newell’s, where he had been since 2020. He also had experience with the Paraguay National Team, in 2014.
In addition to Mugni and Lourenço, Ceará has already announced the signings of Fernando Miguel (goalkeeper), Raí Ramos (right-back) and Aylon (striker). The club is also close to confirming defender Ramon Menezes, a former Cruzeiro who played in the 2023 Series B for CRB.
The players started remote work with physical trainers on December 26th and the squad presentation is scheduled for Tuesday (2).
