The Constitution and Justice Committee (CCJ) of the Senate carried out this Wednesday, 6th, the reading of the reports on the nominations of Flávio Dino and Paulo Gonet, respectively for the Federal Supreme Court (STF) and for the command of the Attorney General’s Office of the Republic (PGR).
Then, the president of the CCJ, senator Davi Alcolumbre (União-AP), granted a collective view, a statutory deadline for the senators to analyze the reports.
Senator Weverton read the report on the appointment of the minister of justice, Flávio Dino, to the committee. Weverton highlighted Dino’s work as a federal judge, parliamentarian and minister of State. “Someone who had successful experiences in exercising the functions of the three powers of the Republic, but never left the legal world”he highlighted.
Senator Jaques Wagner (PT-BA), in turn, read the report on the appointment of Paulo Gonet to occupy the position of Attorney General of the Republic. If approved by the CCJ and the Plenary, he will fill the vacancy left by the former Attorney General of the Republic, Augusto Aras, whose term ended in September.
Reading the reports is one of the regulatory stages of the Senate’s analysis of President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva’s nominations for the STF and the PGR. Both reports were favorable to the nominees.
Dino and Gonet’s hearings will be held at the CCJ next Wednesday, the 13th. Alcolumbre also confirmed that he will hold Dino and Gonet’s hearings together.
