The CBF (Brazilian Football Confederation) included punishments against racism in the General Regulation of Competitions.
The entity inserted gradual penalties for cases of discrimination, such as a fine, loss of field command and, subsequently, loss of points.
The CBF’s decision to insert this determination in the general regulation is given so that there is no chance of clubs overturning the agenda in the technical council of each of the series of the Brazilian Championship.
The General Regulation of Competitions is the norm that governs all tournaments organized by the CBF, which includes the Copa do Brasil and the grassroots competitions.
Currently, punishments for discrimination are applied by the STJD (Superior Court of Sports Justice), based on article 243-G of the CBJD (Brazilian Code of Sports Justice). The maximum fine is R$100,000.
The penalty provided for in this article is suspension of 5 to 10 matches or 120 to 360 days if practiced by any person subjected to the CBJD.
