Member of the Council of Ethics of the Chamber, deputy Alexandre Leite (União-SP) presented a draft resolution to include in the Code of Ethics the production, dissemination, sharing and financing of fake news in the list of behaviors that violate decorum parliamentary. According to the proposal, the penalty can reach the suspension of the mandate for up to six months.

The Code is the document that guides the actions of the members of the Ethics Council.

Faced with the fact that there are parliamentarians who have accumulated representations (such as former deputy Daniel Silveira, the target of three), Leite also proposes to include in the Code that the penalties are cumulative. That is, if a deputy receives different sanctions from representations, they would be added.

Leite was the rapporteur in the Ethics Council for the process of former deputy Flordelis (whose impeachment he recommended) and has now taken over that of Nikolas Ferreira (PL-MG). The Bolsonarist deputy is accused of breaching decorum for having made a transphobic speech on Women’s Day, March 8.

On the occasion, he put on a blonde wig, introduced himself as Nikole and said that “women are losing their space for men who feel like women”.
