The internal minister of the Institutional Security Office (GSI), Ricardo Cappelli, dismissed the portfolio’s chief of staff, Jorge Henrique Fontes, after the release of images showing the participation of civil and military agents during the invasion of the Planalto Palace on the day January 8th.

The exoneration was published in the Official Gazette of the Union this Wednesday morning (26) and is part of a request made by President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) for Cappelli to analyze and make the necessary changes in the cabinet (see in full).

Cappelli said that 35% of the GSI’s staff has already been replaced and that the movement “is natural when there is a change of government”

The situation for Fontes and other agents was complicated after images of the invasion showed the servers circulating among the demonstrators who invaded the building without showing resistance and, at another time, without acting for about an hour, in the late afternoon, in one of the annexes of the Palace.
