River drought

Councilor highlighted that land access to the state would help families affected by low rivers

Manaus (AM) – The president of the Manaus City Council (CMM), councilor Caio André (Podemos), defended, this Wednesday (04), interventions that facilitate the arrival of inputs from other states to Amazonas. The parliamentarian’s statement takes place against the backdrop of river drought, which according to the State Government, affects more than 200,000 people and more than 50,000 families.

According to the president of the House, the drought harms cities in Amazonas not only due to the difficulty of access by river, but mainly due to the arrival of basic items such as drinking water and food, which are also produced outside of Amazonas and, with the drought, have compromised consumption.

Caio André recalled a national discussion about the Safena Bridge, a road connection project that would connect Amazonas to the state of Pará, and defended that solutions to the obstacles that delay the paving of BR-319 be put into practice

“When we talk about sustainability, we cannot forget about preserving nature and human beings. Without human beings, there is no possibility of preservation and sustainability. It is the caboclo there in the middle of the forest who is the main conservation agent of our forests, our fauna and our flora”,

said Caio, reinforcing the importance of works that connect Amazonas to the rest of Brazil.

“We are calling for this exit and we are the ones who preserve this space, and it is not for now, but for decades. We are the ones who are shouting so that we do not remain isolated from Brazil and the major centers.”

Fires

Still in Pequeno Expediente, Caio André asked the company Amazonas Energia for a solution to the constant electricity interruptions in the city. The parliamentarian cited a recent case, which occurred on Tuesday (03), where a fire in an area in the Dom Pedro neighborhood, in the center-west zone, had damaged the supply, according to the concessionaire’s justification.

“We are not going to avoid being here demanding from the company, which today is a concession, a privatized company, but we have the means to charge so that the city of Manaus does not have its energy supply interrupted every day”.

Indications

During the Plenary Session, Caio André presented ten indications to the State Government and the City of Manaus arising from demands presented in the Citizen Chamber project. The requests involve areas such as health, education, social assistance, urban mobility, among others.

With the nominations, the president of the CMM gives a response to the residents who participated in the Popular Tribune of the Citizen Chamber, held at Convivência Padre Pedro Vignola, north of Manaus, on the 14th and 15th of September.
