Cade analyzes Latam’s president’s speech about ticket – 03/14/2023 – Panel SA

After the release of the balance sheets of airlines last week, the statements about ticket prices made by the president of Latam, Jerome Cadier, in an interview with journalists, reverberated in Cade (Administrative Council for Economic Defense).

The autarchy decided to open an investigation procedure to investigate the executive’s statements in the sense that the company will not reduce prices to gain more market share.

Sought by Panel SA, Latam Brasil said it will not comment on any procedures about which it was not notified.

At the time, Cadier said that Latam is unlikely to be seen “destroying prices” and that the company’s five-year plan still requires margin growth.

“We need to guarantee that we find a profitable balance between growth, placement of capacity and market share. It is not in my goals to be a leader”, said the executive.

He reiterated that he has no objective of securing leadership in the context of prices. “I say this because, if we look at the beginning of the 2010s, it was one of the objectives to maintain leadership and this led to many negative decisions in relation to the margin and profitability of the business, which questions the long-term sustainability”, stated.
