Waiting time. This is how coach Mano Menezes’ position can be defined in relation to planning for football in the Corinthians next year. At this Saturday’s press conference (2), after the 2-1 defeat to Internacional, the coach stated that everything will depend on what the leadership decides.
“I don’t have all the decisions made. The club needs to resolve several things to establish priorities. The arrival of players influences the departure of athletes. We have to weigh whether the transformations will bring additions. I’ve seen a lot of people transforming the situation for the worse” , said the coach.
He made it clear that the reformulation will happenr. Everything, however, will be conditioned on the movements of the new board of directors who will start commanding the club next year. What he made clear is that Corinthians need to understand their current situation in relation to the team.
“Corinthians is ending a cycle. You evaluate the start of the season, things don’t happen, and when you don’t have confidence, everything becomes more difficult. It’s complicated to make these evaluations. You (journalists) can do it, I can’t” , he commented.

With 47 points, Corinthians is still at risk of being relegated, but the chances have decreased due to the number of teams that are below the São Paulo club in the Brazilian Championship classification. Cruzeiro (45), Santos (43), Vasco (42) and Bahia (41) are also fighting to escape relegation in this final stretch of the tournament.

Making it clear that a change in the squad will happen, one player was praised by the coach during the press conference: striker Romero. “He was criticized a lot, but he’s a player who always delivers a lot on the field. He scores important goals and that weighs heavily in the end. Football has a lot of that, that’s why I always preach respect. One moment you’re not well, but the phase changes,” he said.
In the last round of Nacional, Corinthians ends its participation playing away from home. Their last match in the tournament will be against relegated Coritiba, at the Couto Pereira stadium.
