Brazilian team holds 1st training session with full group in Barcelona – News of Brazil

The Brazilian men’s soccer team participated on Wednesday (14) in the first training session with the complete group at the Espanyol Training Center, in Barcelona, under the command of interim coach Ramon Menezes. The last ones to introduce themselves to the canary team were goalkeeper Ederson (Manchester City) and defender Robert Renan (Zenit). Brazil is preparing for the friendlies against the Guinea national teams, next Saturday (17th), in the Catalan capital; and Senegal, on Tuesday (20), in Lisbon (Portugal).
During training, Ramon prioritized defensive work, mainly the positioning of players under the opponents’ markings. He also focused on set plays, when balls are crossed in the penalty area, advising athletes to take advantage of the resumption of the ball to try counterattacks.
After the activity on the field, the players Rodrygo (Real Madrid) and Richarlison (Tottenham) participated in a press conference and spoke of the expectation surrounding the hiring of the Italian Carlo Ancelotti, currently at Real Madrid, to command the selection, without a coach since leaving Tite, after the country’s elimination in the Qatar Cup. In an interview with Reuters Agency, CBF president Ednaldo Rodrigues raised the possibility of the entity waiting until 2024 to be able to sign a contract with Ancelotti. The Italian coach has a contract with Real until June 2024.
“Soon he [Ednaldo Rodrigues] will hold a meeting with the players, to find out the details, what we think. That’s it, there’s no point in rushing now”said Richarlison, who was coached by Ancelotti when he defended Everton. “We want to start preparing as soon as possible. We know how difficult a World Cup is, that’s why it’s very important to be working with a coach from the beginning, [com] the characteristics of his work. Now it’s time to wait for the president, see what he will decide”.
For the young striker Rodrygo, led by Carlo Ancelotti at Real, the players are on hold. “We want to have a permanent coach as soon as possible, but we have to adapt to adversity. At the moment, our coach is Ramon, we have to respect him and, of course, if another coach comes along, if we have to wait, we will have to adapt to everything that is going on”.
Brazil faces Guinea, at 4 pm (Brasília time) on Saturday (17), at the RCDE Stadium, in Barcelona. For the first time in 109 years of history, the canary team will enter the field with a completely black uniform. The initiative is part of a series of actions organized by the CBF to combat racism, after striker Vinicius Júnior was the target of racist attacks for the 10th time in La Liga, on May 21.
