The Brazilian team met their opponents this Tuesday (12) in the group stage of the first edition of the women’s football Gold Cup, which will be played between February 17 and March 10, 2024 in the United States. Brazil fell into Group B, which is based at Snapdragon Stadium, in San Diego, and which also includes Colombia, Panama and the winner of Haiti and Puerto Rico, who face off in the preliminary phase of the competition.
The inaugural edition of the women’s Gold Cup, a competition organized by Concacaf (North, Central American and Caribbean Football Confederation), will feature the participation of four invited teams from Conmebol (South American Football Confederation): Brazil, Colombia, Argentina and Paraguay. These teams were the semifinalists of the last edition of the Women’s Copa América.
The tournament will begin on February 17th, with three preliminary round matches: Guyana against the Dominican Republic, Haiti against Puerto Rico and El Salvador against Guatemala. The group stage begins on the 20th, which will be played in three venues until the 28th: Carson (Group A), San Diego (Group B) and Houston (Group C). The decision will be played on March 10 in San Diego.
Group A includes the participation of the United States, Mexico, Argentina and the winner of the game between Guyana and the Dominican Republic. Group C is made up of Canada, Costa Rica, Paraguay and whoever wins between El Salvador and Guatemala.
