This Friday (14th), a delegation led by the Minister Counselor of the French Embassy, Olivier Fontan and Senator Mrs. Joelle Garriaud-Maylam representative of French senators abroad at the invitation of the Governor of Amapá, Clecio Luis, of the senator Randolf Rodrigues (REDE-AP) and the Secretariat for International Relations and Foreign Trade, with the secretary Lucas Abrahão to address joint actions to strengthen both countries.
“There were four years of delay, the Lula Government signals a new time for cross-border relations. We need to discuss and define cooperation between French Guiana and Amapá, with regard to culture and economy, for example”said the senator Randolf.
Oiapoque borders French Guiana. “We need to move forward on issues such as issuing visas to Brazilians, a binational university and economic and cultural cooperation actions”completed Randolf.
The Governor of Amapá, Clecio Luis, highlighted the issue of visas for Brazilians. The French do not need to present a visa to enter Amapá/Brazil, but the opposite is required. “The Brazilian who wants to go to France does not require a visa, but to enter French Guiana it costs about R$1000, in addition to economic issues”pointed out the governor.
The reception of the delegation was carried out by the 34th Army Battalion, by the Cel. Santos Costa, then there was an agenda with various representatives of Amapá at the Government Palace and, at the end, a visit to the Casa do Artesão to taste the typical food from Amapá and a presentation of mara bass.
