The traditional award ceremony of the Brazilian parliament will feature the election of deputies and senators who stood out the most by region of the country (North, Northeast, South, Southeast and Central-West). The winners will be announced on September 21st, at a ceremony held in Brasília.
Thousands of people participated in the internet vote that will also reward the “Best of the Chamber” and the “Best of the Senate”. The election took place until August 31st and included an internal audit by Congresso em Foco and monitoring by the Association of Federal Criminal Experts (APCF).
In addition to the popular award, a specialized jury and journalists who cover the National Congress will also choose the best parliamentarians, as well as the highlights in the “Defense of Education” and in the area of “Climate and Sustainability”.
The Congress in Focus Award was created in 2006 to strengthen democracy, encourage citizens to evaluate the performance of deputies and senators and value those who, in society’s understanding, best represent it. The awards ceremony will be broadcast online.
