Bolsonaro’s nominee will have to pay for the use of government taxis – 01/29/2023 – Mônica Bergamo

Former President of the House Rui Barbosa Letícia Dornelles signed a Conduct Adjustment Term (TAC) with the Comptroller General of the Union in a case of disciplinary infraction. She is being blamed for misusing the taxi service made available to government officials.

The amount to be reimbursed by Dornelles is R$ 2,061. The case reached the CGU through an anonymous complaint.

According to the investigation carried out by the agency, “situations were identified in which the use of the service [de táxi] did not conform to the hypotheses allowed by the legislation”.

The CGU claims that Dornelles violated the public servant’s duties, provided for by law, such as “watching over the economy of material and conservation of public property” and “maintaining conduct compatible with administrative morality”.

Sought after, Dornelles tells the column that she used the taxi to go to work events that took place on weekends, at night and also during her vacations. She also says that she sent the documents and records of the events to the internal affairs department, “but they didn’t consider it”.

“It’s like talking to a wall,” she says. “I explained that despite [estar de] vacation and [de ser] holiday, I worked. Event has no date. I go when I have to or I’m invited. It’s part of my job.”

One of the appointments took place on April 21, 2021, says Dornelles. “I went to the Foundation [Rui Barbosa] receive the president of Fecomércio. I used the taxi. [Era o] the only day he had on his agenda and he wanted to visit the museum. I sent the documents, photos. Does it work?” he asks.

She also says that another episode took place on November 19 last year, a Saturday, when she visited a festival held in partnership with Casa Rui Barbosa. “Am I going by bus? Am I going to pay to leave the foundation at 10 pm? I’m going to an event at the end of the world, [mesmo] I could rest, but I went. Then, the CGU punishes me”, he continues.

Letícia Dornelles was exonerated from the position in December, still in the government of Jair Bolsonaro (PL), and had a performance at the head of the body that was highly criticized by the servers.

As soon as she was promoted to the post, in 2020, she removed experienced researchers, such as Flora Süssekind and José Almino de Alencar, who had spoken out against her appointment.
