Brasilia DF) – The plea bargain of Lieutenant Colonel Mauro Cid, Bolsonaro’s former aide-de-camp, gave Federal Police agents important elements for the investigation of the former president’s attempted coup d’état.

According to UOL columnist Aguirre Talento, in his statement about the coup negotiations, Cid mentions the names of the characters involved, locations and circumstances of the meetings held to discuss the matter. Now the material from the plea bargain is currently under analysis by the team of Deputy Attorney General of the Republic Carlos Frederico Santos, at the PGR (Attorney General’s Office).

According to the columnist, Cid stated in his statement that the former first lady Michelle and one of the former president’s sons, federal deputy Eduardo Bolsonaro (PL-SP), were part of a group of radical advisors who incited the then president of the Republic Jair Bolsonaro carrying out a coup d’état and not accepting defeat in last year’s elections.

The lieutenant colonel also told investigators that Jair Bolsonaro did not want to demobilize the coup protesters camped in military units across the country because he believed that some evidence of fraud would be found at the polls, which would serve to annul the election result.

For the former aide-de-camp, the coup plan did not go ahead because there was no agreement from the military commanders.

In a note to the columnist, lawyer Paulo Cunha Bueno classified the accusations as “absurd” and said that they are not supported by evidence. The defense also stated that Bolsonaro or his family members “were never connected to movements that projected the institutional rupture of the country”.
