The minister’s statements are based on a report by the Federal Police and served as the basis for the decision that authorized the operation launched this Friday (11), which fulfilled search and seizure warrants related to the former president in the case of jewelry sent by Saudi authorities. .
Among the targets are Army reserve general Mauro Lourena Cid, father of former aide-de-camp Mauro Cid, Frederick Wassef, Bolsonaro’s lawyer, and Osmar Crivelatti, an Army lieutenant who also served as a supporter of orders from the Presidency.
Moraes states that the data analyzed by the PF indicate the possibility that the body responsible for analyzing and defining the destination of gifts offered by a foreign authority to the President of the Republic, the Adjunct Cabinet of Historical Documentation of the Presidency, “has been used to divert, to the private collection of the former President of the Republic, gifts of high value, by determination of Jair Bolsonaro”.
The PF still points out, says Moraes, “evidence that some gifts received by Jair Messias Bolsonaro due to his position would have been diverted without even having been submitted to the evaluation of the GADH/GPPR [o gabinete de documentação]”.
The minister says in the decision that the steps taken indicate that Bolsonaro and his team used the presidential plane on December 30, 2022 to evade high-value goods from the country, which were diverted to the United States and, subsequently, sent to specialized stores. in the sale and auction of objects in the American cities of Miami, New York and Willow Grove.
“The resources, then, would be forwarded in kind to Jair Messias Bolsonaro, deliberately avoiding not going through the control mechanisms and the formal financial system, possibly
to avoid tracking by the competent authorities, as informed by the Federal Police”, says the minister.
“The investigation has therefore identified, so far, that this modus operandi was used to withdraw from the country at least four sets of goods received by the former President of the Republic on trips

In a note, the PF stated that the action has the “objective of clarifying the performance of a criminal association constituted for the practice of crimes of embezzlement and money laundering”.
The actions take place within the police investigation of the digital militias, in progress at the STF (Federal Supreme Court) under the rapporteurship of Minister Alexandre de Moraes.
Those investigated are suspected of using the structure of the Brazilian government to “misappropriate goods of high patrimonial value, delivered by foreign authorities on official missions to representatives of the Brazilian State, through the sale of these items abroad”, said the police.
According to the investigation, the values obtained from these sales were converted into cash and entered into the personal assets of those investigated, without using the formal banking system, with the aim of hiding the origin, location and ownership of the values.
When contacted, Mauro Cid’s lawyer, Bernardo Fenelon, said in a statement that he had not yet had access to the records of the investigation that led to the searches and seizures. “For that reason we are unable to make any comment,” he said.
