Bolsonaro tells the PF that the election is a turning point – 04/26/2023 – Mônica Bergamo

Former president Jair Bolsonaro (PL) said, in a statement to the Federal Police (PF) this Wednesday (26), that he considers the 2022 elections “a page turned” in his life.

The former chief executive was summoned to testify to the PF for having shared on social networks, two days after the invasion of the Planalto Palace, a video of attacks on the security of electronic voting machines. The post was made two days after the 8th of January, and deleted shortly after it was made public.

The column gained access to the statements of the statement given by the former representative. Bolsonaro told the PF that he accidentally posted the video.

“If it was the intention to spread the video to his followers, he would do it on all his social networks and not just on his lesser repercussion social network [Facebook]”, says the declaration document.

He continues: “Asked about his opinion on the electoral process, [Bolsonaro] states that, when posting the video, he had not watched it in its entirety and, at no time, made a value judgment about it”.

“Finally, the declarant reiterates that he repudiates and condemns any and all acts that aim to undermine the democratic order and that during his four years in office he always acted within the “four lines” of the Federal Constitution”.

According to the defense, Bolsonaro would have received the video and wanted to store it to watch later, when he ended up posting it by mistake. Bolsonaro, says his defense, would not have realized that he made a post, which ended up being removed by assistants afterwards.

Bolsonaro remained at the PF headquarters in Brasília from 8:45 am to 11:20 am.

As the column showed, Bolsonaro spent the afternoon of Tuesday (25) meeting with lawyers and advisors to train the answers he would give to the Federal Police.
