One week before the judgment of the TSE (Superior Electoral Court) that could make him ineligible, former president Jair Bolsonaro (PL) said this Wednesday (14) that it is necessary to prepare to seek alternatives and that he will not change his way of acting.

The statements were given at a PL event held at the party’s headquarters in Brasília by the association’s president, Valdemar Costa Neto, in which former Minister of Health Marcelo Queiroga, launched as a pre-candidate for mayoralty of João Pessoa in 2024.

“Valdemar knows what Brazilian politics is like and we already know what Justice is like here in Brazil. So, we prepare for whatever happens… we prepare with great pride to seek alternatives,” he said. the former president.

“I believe in God, in this country, our life is not easy, but that’s okay, we face these obstacles”, he reinforced.

On the 22nd, the TSE begins to judge a lawsuit filed by the PDT that calls for Bolsonaro’s ineligibility for having carried out, in a meeting at the Palácio da Alvorada in the middle of last year with ambassadors, attacks on the Brazilian system of electronic voting machines.

The Electoral Public Prosecutor’s Office defends Bolsonaro’s punishment and considers that he committed abuse of political power and misuse of function, practiced prohibited conduct and sought to delegitimize the electoral process.

In his speech, Bolsonaro said that he has more than 500 processes and highlighted that he has already contributed “enough” to the future of the country with many of those present and that he can still contribute “whatever happens”.

“No one is going to change our (sic) way of acting because possibly a few want, by force, to maintain or work for a regime that has not worked anywhere in the world”, he said, in an indirect to the Judiciary.

Bolsonaro has made several attacks on ministers of the TSE and the STF (Federal Supreme Court) in recent years.

Allies of his, including in the PL, consider that, if he becomes ineligible by the TSE, Bolsonaro could act as a strong electoral force in the municipal elections of 2024 and general elections of 2026.

At the event, the party president stated that Bolsonaro had never committed an illegal act and had, in his assessment, the most serious government he has ever seen.

“I do not believe that the Judiciary will do such an injustice to him. I hope they comply with the law. Bolsonaro served his four-year term in an exemplary manner. I have never seen a president behave like him,” he said.

account blocking

Also this Wednesday, Bolsonaro showed CNN a bank receipt that shows a new judicial blockade of BRL 317,047.52 from his bank account due to fines determined by the São Paulo court. On Tuesday, the court had required the withholding of R$87,400.

The blockades refer to fines by the São Paulo government, managed at the time by João Doria, for Bolsonaro not wearing protective masks during visits to the state during the pandemic.

With this, amounts that are in the account or that will be deposited will be retained due to the judicial block.

Earlier, the former representative said he would ask if Valdemar Costa Neto would pay the blockade of R$ 87 thousand. “The news in the press yesterday [terça] blocking my accounts. Rest assured that, for now, I have funds. Soon I won’t have any more. I’m going to see if Valdemar pays me outside, salary withheld”, said the former president, laughing, during the PL event.
