Former president Jair Bolsonaro stopped earning R$ 30,000 from the PCdoB after the Justice of Rio de Janeiro archived a claim for compensation filed by the former president against the communist party due to the loss of the defense deadline to respond to an appeal presented by the party.
In the filed action, Bolsonaro asked for compensation for moral damages for having his image disclosed in a montage published by the PCdoB state directory alongside the terrorist Omar Mateen, responsible for killing at least 50 people in a gay nightclub in Orlando, in the United States.
The post made by PCdoB was published in June 2016, when Bolsonaro was still a federal deputy, and said that if the “homophobic Omar Mateen were Brazilian”, his photo would carry the slogan “Bolsonaro president”.
The Carioca Justice gave a favorable opinion to the former representative in the first instance, but the party appealed the decision. During a live, the former president even said that he would “take tubaína” with the money from the case to celebrate the victory. However, according to a report in the newspaper Power360, Bolsonaro’s defense missed the deadline to respond to the appeal filed by the PCdoB. With no return from the defense, Justice closed the process and revoked the announced sentence.
