Former president Jair Bolsonaro (PL) avoided commenting on the appointment of lawyer Cristiano Zanin to the STF (Federal Supreme Court) and limited himself to saying that the measure is up to the president.
Bolsonaro said he would not give interviews when participating in a graduation of PM officers in São Paulo, this Friday (2). However, when questioned about Lula’s (PT) appointment of his personal lawyer in Operation Lava Jato to the Supreme Court, he only said that this is a “private competence” of the president.
The former president also said that he has not yet spoken to his lawyer about the progress of the action at the TSE (Superior Electoral Court), which could make him ineligible.
On Thursday (1st), Minister Benedito Gonçalves released the report and asked the president of the court, Alexandre de Moraes, to schedule the trial. The expectation is that it will take place on the 13th of June.
At this Friday’s event, Bolsonaro was honored and received applause. The commander of the PM in São Paulo, Colonel Cássio Araújo de Freitas, said that Bolsonaro had always been “elegant and courteous” and addressed him as an “eternal president”.
Bolsonaro stood on the stage of Academia do Barro Branco alongside the governor of São Paulo, Tarcísio de Freitas (Republicans), and the mayor of São Paulo, Ricardo Nunes (MDB).
Bolsonaro has been in São Paulo since Thursday. He underwent tests at a hospital and at night watched the match between São Paulo and Sport for the round of 16 of the Copa do Brasil, at the Morumbi stadium, alongside Tarcísio. He stayed at the Palácio dos Bandeirantes, seat of the São Paulo Executive.
