Former President Jair Bolsonaro (PL) suffered a new blocking of resources from his bank accounts this Wednesday (14) of R$ 370,000 to comply with fines from the Justice of São Paulo. The amount is added to another BRL 77,400 blocked on Tuesday (13) for not wearing a mask on visits to cities in the interior of the state in 2021, during the Covid-19 pandemic.
The decision of Judge André Rodrigues Menk, from the State Tax Enforcement Rod of São Paulo, asked for the blockade for disrespecting state health measures. Bolsonaro, however, said that he still has resources, and that he will not despair of the judicial measure.
“For now I have funds, soon I won’t have any more. I’ll see if Valdemar [Costa Neto, presidente do PL] pays me outside so I don’t have my salary withheld. We will not despair over this. We know who is on the right side and who wants the future of their country”, he said during the affiliation event of former Minister Marcelo Queiroga, of Health, to the PL to run for mayor of João Pessoa in 2024.
Shortly afterwards, on CNN, the former president presented an image capture of a bank statement that showed the blocking of BRL 317,047.52 from his account at Banco do Brasil.
During the pandemic, the São Paulo government imposed at least seven fines on the former president for failing to comply with health standards in the state.
