Bolsonaro returns 3rd jewelry kit received from Saudis – 04/04/2023 – Politics

The defense of Jair Bolsonaro (PL) delivered this Tuesday (4th) to a Caixa Econômica Federal agency in Brasília the third set of jewelry received from Saudi Arabia. The measure complies with a determination by the TCU (Federal Audit Court).

Comprising a Rolex watch, cufflinks, a white gold ring, a Chopard pen and a type of rosary, this case is similar to the one delivered by the former representative’s lawyers on March 24.

Bolsonaro received the case when he visited Saudi Arabia in October 2019. The package became part of his private collection the following month, as shown by the Sheet.

Former Communications Secretary of the previous administration, Fabio Wajngarten, stated, in a social network, that the “delivery reiterates the commitment of President Bolsonaro’s defense to return all the gifts requested by the TCU, complying with the guidance of the country’s former representative, which has always respected the legislation in force on the subject”.

In addition to this gift set, two others were sent by Saudis in October 2021 through a delegation from the Ministry of Mines and Energy headed by the then portfolio holder, Bento Albuquerque, who was in that country.

A set of jewels, supposedly intended for former first lady Michelle Bolsonaro, was seized at the international airport in Guarulhos (SP). The luxury items were with one of Bento Albuquerque’s advisors, who tried to enter the country without declaring them to the Federal Revenue Service.

The other kit was not intercepted by the Revenue. It was in the former minister’s luggage, as he admitted in a statement to the Federal Police, and was under the ministry’s custody for a year until it was handed over, in November 2022, to the Presidency, to compose Bolsonaro’s collection.
